Here’s Tae Your Health

Scots are drinking far more than the rest of Britian….and the gap’s getting wider.
With the Scottish government putting forward proposals to introduce the minimum unit pricing of alcohol, a group of film makers and volunteers from Plantation Productions got together to investigate Scotland’s apparent love of the bevvy. We explore the drinking culture, from our historic connection to how drinking trends have changed over the years, as well as the role of media and advertising. We also look at how drinking affects us on a personal level, from our body and mind to our very lives.

PROJECT: Here’s Tae Your Health

Why has Scotland been branded  the “sick man of Europe”?  Why is the government pushing for minimum pricing of alcohol?

As part of the GRAND 365 initiative (Getting Real about Alcohol and Drugs) we will be making a film that explores the facts and myths about Scottish culture and its relationship with alcohol.  We’d love to hear your views on the matter, and are recruiting volunteers to assist with the research, interviews and production of a short documentary. No experience necessary as training will be provided.

As part of the project Tam McGarvey (of Galgael fame) will be planning four cultural trips and talks across Central Scotland, where filming will take place.

Workshops will take place Friday mornings 11am-1pm, starting Friday 14th June 2013 at The Portal, 978 Govan Road (for 8 weeks).

Location filming will take place over 4 days – dates and locations to be confirmed at the start of the project.

The film will be screened as part of GRAND week in September 2013.

If you would like to get involved, either come along on 14th June or contact Angela Ross at Plantation Productions
