Creative Steps: Step 3 – Wider Participation
Step 3: Wider Opportunities – Sewing Courses, Choir, Volunteering etc
In addition to attending a weekly group there are opportunities to get involved in wider activities.
We offer machine sewing courses throughout the year for all levels of sewer from beginners to certificated courses. Courses normally run in Spring, Autumn and Winter for 8 weeks.
No experience is necessary.
Our Community Choir, “Govan Allsorts”, who meet weekly on a Thursday evening and perform at a wide variety of venues and events. The choir is open to all, including those who have never thought about joining a choir before.
“I just love the choir. We have such a laugh and I feel great after it – pure therapy.”
As a participant in the Creative Steps Programme any participant is able to widen their involvement through joining our Volunteer Group. Led by our Volunteer Co-ordinator participants can get involved in a variety of opportunities that suit them.
- Befriending -helping someone new settle in a group
- Fundraising – thinking of fun ways to get together and raise funds for our programme
- Chatting to others – accompanying the tutor to outreach courses and chatting to potential new participants about your experience of being involved
- Skills Sharing – learning a craft skill and sharing it with others
